Gall Bladder Disease Symptoms - Do You Know the Signs?
Author: Charles Kassotis
Listed below are some of the common symptoms of gall bladder disease.
Jaundice
The gall bladder is an organ that holds bile in order to increase its concentration and delivers it when fat is consumed for easier digestion. While there is a long list of gall bladder symptoms, the most noticeable is jaundice.
In case the skin becomes jaundiced then the first culprit that should be examined is the gall bladder and after that, the liver. Jaundiced skin is easily recognized by the yellow or orange coloring (depending on the type of jaundice). Sometimes the whites of the eyes will also turn yellowish.
Jaundice occurs when the liver is unable to process and filter old blood and convert it into bile. This means a malfunction in the liver or a blockage in the gall bladder.
Pain
There are several kinds of pain that make a gall bladder symptom, some of these are listed below along with other associated qualities.
Irregular pains in the center of upper abdomen or below the ribs to the right.
The pain spreading to the right shoulder or sometimes between shoulder blades.
Pain like this might often be associated with nausea or vomiting.
Pain attacks resulting from gall bladder problems may last for a few hours before going away on their own.
The severity and frequency of these attacks with be different each time.
The pain can be easily triggered after eating foods rich in fat, such as chocolate, pastry, and cheese.
It is often not possible to differentiate between similar pain that could be a result of other problems like heart pains, gastric ulcer, pneumonia, and kidney stones.
Gallstones
Symptoms of a gallstone blockage include the following.
Nausea
Abdominal pain
Indigestion
Vomiting
Fatty food intolerance
Abdominal bloating
Belching
Biliary Colic
Indigestion
Gas
Sometimes, people with gallstones never realize that they have them. The only way they are discovered when witnessed through x-rays taken for other reasons. Such stones often require no treatment at all.
There are other symptoms much higher on the severity scale and these any such gall bladder symptom must be taken as a need for immediate medical supervision. Some of these symptoms are given below.
Sweating
Fever
Jaundice
Chills
Persistent pain
Yellow skin
Yellow eyes
Pale stools
Gall bladder attack symptoms
Gall bladder attacks may happen at any time but they are more likely to occur after consuming fat rich foods. Gallstone attacks require immediate medical attention.
A severe and steady pain in the upper abdomen signifies the attack. Such attacks may last anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple of hours. The pain from such an attack could also spread to the shoulder blades or right shoulder and be accompanied by nausea.
The frequency of these attacks is unpredictable and there could be a gap of a week to many years between two attacks. However, with time and lack of treatment the attacks become frequent.

Does anyone know anything about gall bladder surgrey?
I have been having gall bladder attacks i have had 7 in 2 and a half months.I recently went to the emergency room and they told me I had multiple gallstones and i needed to have it removed.Well since my visit last week i have never stopped having pain my abdomen is very tender and i cant lift or even walk with out pain.Plus I have a slight fever.Could this be sign of infection.I am planning on going in for the surgrey.Has anyone had this surgrey and do you know what happens during it,what recoup time is or just any information good or bad on this I would really appreciate it.Thank you so much
Gall bladder surgery is considered very minor surgery nowadays. They make four tiny incisions in your upper abdomen, pulverize the stones then sick them out through a tiny straw. You will feel much better and should be walking about in a few days. Get the surgery done. You will feel better and there is very little risk.
any doctors or people who know about gall bladder infections?
For a while after I eat I feel sick to my stomach, or if I eat one bite of something i get a stomach ache and feel like i need to go to the bathroom but nothing happens….
and the smell of food makes me feel like throwing up.
this has been going on for about a month now but have been brushing it off because I thought it would go away.
my boyfriend asked his mom-whos an E.R. nurse and says
it sounds like a gall bladder infection?
Anyone else think so? and are there any other signs of it?
or do you think it could be other things?
I know I won’t know until I go to the doctor, but I am just wondering.
and if it is, is surgery the only option or what other things can be done?
I know these are a lot of questions, so thank you to everyone who answers!
If you’re not pregnant…then it does sound like it could be a gallbladder issue. Gallbladders help you digest greasy foods. If you eat greasy foods and have this problem then your gallbladder may not be working properly. It’s not a gallbladder infection though. Gallstones can be found by an ultrasound. Gallbladder function is another test. If it’s poor function the gallbladder will be removed. If it’s gallstones, medication will be prescribed.
Celiac is also another possibility. If the gallbladder tests prove negative, get tested for Celiac. It’s a simple blood test. If you have this, it is corrected by diet with avoiding gluten.
If your doctor says heart burn…be careful. Most doctors try to cut stomach acid down when in fact you are producing too little stomach acid. Seek help with someone who understands how too low of stomach acid can cause this as well. They can put you on a supplement to help.
Doctor said she thinks its my gall bladder then why does it feel like my kidneys?
I’ve had a kidney infection before and the pain i’m feeling now is real similar. Only difference no vomiting,no fever, and apparently there was no sign of infection in my urine. I just read webMD’s info about gall stones/gall bladder problems and I do not feel the pain in the pit of my stomach or upper back. But rather my right side lower pack front abdomen. I can’t really identify with any of the symtoms associated with gallbladder problems.
The dr. scheduled me an ultra sound for the 29th!!! I’m in pain and I want answers that my crappy provider DOESNT HAVE THE TIME to give me.
Thanks
And, I’m A VEGETARIAN I don’t eat a high fat diet I eat a rich fiber, vegetable, vegan protein diet. But, I have had a drinking problem
Usually with gall bladder, your white blood cells are elevated and so are your enzymes your gallbladder puts off. Pain is usually felt in the right side and it usually happens after you eat. It does subside after you digest all of your food, and goes away when you stomach is empty. The pain can radiate around your stomach, too.
Why would the lining of my gall bladder be thickened?
I had an ultrasound yesterday to determine the cause of my recurrent UTI’s. The radiologist said that I have a gall stone measuring approx 16mm across and that the lining of my gall bladder was thicker than it should be, he said it should be no more than 3mm and mine is 7.6mm. I asked what might cause this and he said it could be a sign of infection, I have looked up the signs and they all mention pain, however the only pain I have been having is in my left kidney due to UTI. Are there any other causes of thickening?
It is chronic cholecystitis.
The stone in your gallbladder has inflammed it, leading to a thickened wall. This might not have caused you any particularly troubling pain.
Discuss the finding with the doctor who ordered the test.
Good luck!
CAN YOUR WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT NOT SHOW SIGNS OF INFECTION?
AND can herpes on your face look like acne, and not be near your mouth?
im breaking out so bad! and im back on my acne medication which usually clears it up to like 90%!! i have mountain types of red painfull bumps(that dont pop like mine usually do) in all areas on my dermatologist says normal! and a few blisters types.
BUT my dr’s and i have been doing all kinds of blood, urine and stool tests to figure out whats wrong w/ me because i have been quite sick W/ a ridiculous amount of symptoms……. my symptoms include(but not limited to): extreme weight loss(20%) over the past 7 months w/ no known reason, memory loss, fatigue, confusion, trouble finding words, constipation, blood clots in stool, extreme amount of mucus in stool, malabsorbtion, constant feeling of needing to move bowels, itchy scalp, dry hair and skin, dry mouth, large amounts of yeast in mouth, swollen tender glands throughout entire body(HARD IMMOBILE SLOW GROWING LYMPH NODES IN GROIN ABOUT 1MONTH NOW -now about 1cm-1in big), circulation changes(pigmentation in skin either very pale or red, varicoses veins pronounced in legs when im doing anything physically demanding, broken blood vessels appearing easily; eyes and nose)cold feet and hands, hot flashes(im 29YRS OLD!), pain(inside of knees, lower back, stiff neck, headaches), hands wrists ankles and feet swelling(bilaterally) w/ tingling sensation and numbness, muscle cramping and spams, few BLISTER TYPE canker sores, hair loss, dry eyes, abdominal swelling, appetite up and down but always feeling full quickly, excessive gas, ocd symptoms, behavior changes, THROAT feels full, itchy wet ears(get clogged alot), cuts on fingers and hands slow to heal, allergy type symptoms out of no-where, skin tag inside anus almost at edge, slight vaginal discharge(not strong odor) and swelling(looks as if the walls of vagina are closing in! swollen and low), bump on cervix(that has been there years but now growing fast and a new one just inside opening-purplish in color. i can see it bc cervix is so low and maybe swollen(2gynecologists examined me and said look normal!)
IM ON SYNTHROID FOR LOW THYROID,CO LACE FOR CONSTIPATION AND ZANTAC FOR GAS
I HAVE HASHIMOTO DISEASE(autoimmune low thyroid) I HAD A VERY LARGE TUMOR REMOVED FROM CHEST 15 YRS AGO(attached to my trachea, aorta, heart, esophagus and windpipe. but seems to not have grown back according to x rays
im thinking i have a number of different problems and that’s whats confusing the dr’s-
i had clear x chest x rays and only one abnormal ekg out of 3(Dr’s say no concern and no found heart probs) clear ultrasound of liver, heart, gall bladder, etc, all basic blood urine and stool tests plus extra thyroid tests, rheumatoid arthritis, lyme disease, celiac, HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydiae, and parasite tests and more.—— all normal so far! (w/ the exception of a slightly low sugar)
*** im concerned my white blood cell counts are not showing up on tests accurately bc i must have SOME type of infection! LYMPHOMA, CANCER, HIV(that is not showing on test) BRAIN TUMOR! I DONT KNOW-SYPMTOMS ARE SO ALL OVER THE MAP!
im stressed from all this worrying prb making my sypmtoms more severe and multiply, but i know something is wrong! SOMEONE ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME im seeing dr tom so hopefully some news(GOOD OR BAD AT THIS POINT IS GOOD TO ME!)
many of those symptoms lead to HIV, and it is not uncommon to have a negative test result when you are actually HIV positive. get retested.. but overall sounds like you just named everything you could think of.
-vaginal discharge: normal
-skin tags: normal
-sores: possible STD
- bump on cervix: might actually be the cervix, if you gyno can’t see it, im sure it’s fine
- etc..
start thinking about what’s changed recently versus worrying so much about the little things. that’s what confuses doctors, when you talk about 100 different things when really the worst symptom is the cause of everything else
your thyroid problem is most likely causing your lymph nodes to be swollen, as well as most of the symptoms above
as for the acne.. it is stress induced.. and you seem to be very stressed.
i suggest stop taking so much medications, consult more doctors until you’re satisfied, they know what your blood work reveals, not us
